Abstract: Digitized photographic plates of the field of OJ 287 were
 used to fill the gaps in its light curve for the period 1956-1965. 
The results shows evidence for five outbursts in this period 
where the brightness in V has risen above 30 mJy. 
The results agrees with the precessing binary black hole model.
