Topic: 6 Session: oral Abstract: The possibility that the AGN obscuring torus and nuclear star formation are intimately connected has been raised by many authors on observational and theoretical grounds. The detection of a young stellar cluster within only 9 pc of the nucleus of the LINER/Sy1 NGC1097 appears to support this hypothesis, but the existence of tori in low-luminosity AGN is currently the subject of debate. We present high spatial resolution IR observations and modelling of the nucleus of NGC 1097 that demonstrate that this galaxy does in fact harbour a dusty torus, and examine the source(s) contributing to the dust heating.
